Datastream 7icombines robust tools for asset tracking and management with an extensive array of resources that help companies create a collaborative environment and efficient operations. Designed to provide users with the most current data and to ensure cost and time efficiency throughout operations, this sampling of Datastream 7i features augments a company's ability to increase returns on investment and productivity.
Datastream 7i offers a variety of powerful features and options, providing companies with unparalleled asset management functionality. With pre-configured work processes, screens, menus, and reports based on the industry's best practices, Datastream 7i offers customers the fastest deployment available and the lowest total cost of ownership in the market. This completely Web-architected application includes a simple browser interface that enables companies to share information and manage assets across the enterprise easily. Datastream 7i helps users perform physical asset and facility maintenance properly in order to increase productivity.
Application Program Interfaces (API)
Datastream Application Program Interfaces (APIs) facilitate the input of data directly into the Datastream 7i database. These APIs, typically used for transaction management, have proven to be especially helpful in the integration of programmable logic controllers, automated readers, and other third party data collection solutions. Hardware and software that capitalize on these specific functions are sold as separate advanced modules.

Asset
With the Asset module, companies identify, track, locate, and analyze their physical assets and facilitate metered usage measurement and automatic usage value transmission to sub-components. By compiling asset data, such as location, cost history, warranties, claims, meters, permits, and documents, Datastream 7i helps maximize productivity and asset life.

Asset Hierarchy Management
Asset hierarchy management allows users to track assets and their associated locations using an easily configured "family tree" that forms relationships between equipment. These relationships facilitate customer-determined data collection and analysis for equipment movement, maintenance, and cost for individual assets and any groupings of assets.

Audit Trail
Datastream 7i provides a flexible way to track changes to comments and attributes. Track inserts, updates, or deletions of every attribute for almost every Datastream 7i table, any individual field, and all comments per entity.

Commercial Services
This feature is designed for maintenance organizations that operate as a business unit and charge customers for maintenance work that they perform. Use Asset management services to define time, material, and labor costs in cost-charging arrangements. Then, apply cost-charges to commercial agreements to calculate job costs and generate invoices and reports.

Depreciation Datastream 7i includes the capability of calculating and displaying any of four methods of depreciation for assets. These methods include Straight-Line, Double Declining Rate, Sum-of-the-Years-Digits, and Units of Production. Having detailed depreciation information readily available in Asset Performance Management application provides support for decision-making without requiring time-consuming research and inquiry with additional business resources.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Through KPIs, users define and monitor asset performance indicators, such as mean time between equipment failure, without having to run reports. Using dashboard-like gauges, KPIs provide a snapshot of how assets are performing compared to user-defined benchmarks.

Linear Assets
The linear assets module in Datastream 7i enables users to define an asset in terms of linear reference details like length, unit of measure, and geographic reference. Users can write work orders against any portion or point on that asset by specifying to and from points. For example, when work is performed at a specific point on a linear assetlike replacing a portion of a pipelinethe cost and work involved in that repair is attributed to the specific portion of the asset rather than the entire asset. This allows more accurate analysis and maintenance of the linear asset. Datastream 7i also enables dynamic segmentation from within the linear asset feature, meaning that while users are working with a specific segment of an asset they can easily change the segment where work should be performed. For example, a work order can be issued between mile markers 5 and 7, but when the road crew gets to the site only the area between mile markers 5 and 6 require work. The work order is adjusted and the costs and work are assigned to the correct segment. The linear asset feature also works well with the Datastream 7i GIS Integration advanced module.

Messenger
Messenger enables user-defined recipients to receive e-mail notifications at pre-defined intervals following a change in work or purchase order status. The automatic messages keep personnel updated on actions such as work or purchase order requests, approvals, completions, and purchase order receipts as well as deletions in the database. Additionally, Messenger enables customers to set up conditional criteria and automatically send a pre-formatted message with flexible content to selected email, pager, and cell phone recipients. Automatically notifying personnel when a work or purchase order is requested, approved, and completed reduces redundant purchasing and downtime and ensures greater efficiency.

Microsoft Project 2003 The Microsoft Project 2003 feature provides a true, two-way interface between Datastream 7i and Microsoft Project 2003. Users can pass work orders and trade personnel to Microsoft Project 2003 for planning and scheduling purposes. Microsoft Project 2003 returns scheduling data to Datastream 7i for execution and tracking.

Multi-Organization Support
Datastream 7i is often used by companies with branches or plants in multiple locations with a variety of currencies and languages. With Datastream 7i, organizations manage multiple legal entities with one database. However, each site within the organization is able to view and edit its own data while using its own currency and language. These capabilities form a collaborative environment that permits users across traditional boundaries to share common data. The multi-organization software feature also enables companies to perform separate functions, such as facilities management, fleet maintenance, and plant management, creating one solution for various needs.

Preventive Maintenance Management
With preventive maintenance (PM) management, users create PM tasks based on a fixed date, flexible time period, or meter usage. Users may incorporate routes with a PM task to service multiple assets that share similar PM requirements under a single work order. Datastream 7i can automatically adjust PM schedules to compensate for early or late PM work accomplishment.
Datastream 7i also offers preventive maintenance (PM) revision control to track modifications and control the authorization of modifications to PM scheduled tasks, materials, and routes. With PM revision control, establish a control system for approving any changes that are made to scheduled periodic preventive maintenance.

Usage Monitoring
Datastream 7i offers an extensive metering function that allows an unlimited number of meters to be associated with a single piece of equipment. Metered usage values flow down a customer-defined equipment hierarchy to selected components, eliminating the need for supplemental metering. For example, a vehicle odometer can be used to register usage for tires, transmission, engine, and any other components of the vehicle. Usage values are retained by each component even if that component is moved so that accurate usage history accrues--giving customers critical information for preventive maintenance job release, warranty tracking, and justification.

Warranties and Warranty Claims
This feature allows users to track asset warranties and process warranty claims and provides for unlimited warranties against any asset. Datastream 7i accommodates both meter- and date-based warranties and automatically tracks all work orders in the system that have a potential claim. In addition, Datastream 7i retrieves the work orders for claim processing and posts specified meter readings for claim and historical purposes and allows for time-elapse warranties on consumable parts not registered as assets.

Workload Inbox and Scorecard
The workload inbox is a user-defined "to do" list that provides up-to-date information about pending tasks such as backlogged work orders or purchase requests. Providing instant access, the inbox quickly shows the tasks that need to be completed. The Scorecard displays a graphical depiction of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) status based on user-specified parameters. Both Inbox and Scorecard items allow users to hyperlink immediately to the Datastream 7i screens for the necessary operations or data input.
