PICANOL GROUP DEPLOYS DATASTREAM 7i TO STREAMLINE ASSETS AND OPERATIONS
Leading Machine Manufacturer to Implement Asset Performance Management Across Multiple Sites and Multiple Countries
GREENVILLE, S.C., AUG. 30, 2005 – Datastream Systems, Inc. today announced that Picanol Group, the world leader in the manufacturing of automated weaving machines, and its subsidiary Proferro have successfully replaced their existing mainframe-based maintenance system with the Datastream 7i Asset Performance Management solution.
Picanol Group, headquartered in Belgium, selected Datastream because of the company’s track record of successful deployments and the Datastream 7i Web architecture. “Our people can gain access to the system via a standard Web browser – anytime, anywhere. This eliminates the need to purchase expensive hardware,” said Marc De Deygere, IT program manager for the Picanol Group. “Additionally, Datastream 7i can quickly be rolled out to our other production plants in Germany, China and the United States.”
Datastream 7i helps companies with the purchase, registration, management and maintenance planning of capital assets. The system collects important data from machinery and equipment –such as the physical location, costs and warranty conditions – to enable optimal management and maintenance planning. Better management and planning leads to reduced operational costs, improved availability of resources and increased productivity.
Picanol Group intends to introduce Datastream 7i into a number of production plants to automate management of work orders, calibration, and stock and maintenance planning. Through the product’s user friendly Web interface, Picanol Group can easily deploy and manage several locations on one database, running on a central hardware infrastructure.
