Datastream Integrates iProcure Industrial Procurement Network into Datastream 7i; Now Branded as Datastream 7i Buy/Supply
Company also delivers numerous new features that drive greater efficiency and cost savings for customers and suppliers through fully integrated industrial procurement
Greenville, S.C. June 17, 2003 Datastream Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTM) today announced that it has integrated its iProcure industrial procurement network into its flagship Datastream 7i asset performance management solution. Moving forward, the network will be branded as the Datastream 7i Buy/Supply module and will continue to deliver powerful, fully integrated industrial-procurement capabilities to Datastream customers.
Datastream 7i Buy/Supply is delivered as two related offerings:
- Datastream 7i Buy provides Datastream 7i customers with full-featured automated industrial procurement from within their Datastream 7i application.
- Datastream 7i Supply provides suppliers with technology and integration services so they can streamline their processes for accepting and fulfilling customer orders.
Together, Datastream 7i Buy/Supply links Datastreams customers to the worlds leading industrial suppliers -- including Fastenal Company, Motion Industries, Office Depot and Wesco -- and is responsible for more than $75 million worth of transactions each year.
By using integrated electronic procurement, rather than traditional paper-, phone- or fax-based procurement, customers can significantly decrease procurement costs while optimizing inventory levels enterprise-wide.
Since adopting Datastream 7i Buy, Harman/Becker has dramatically reduced the number of suppliers we use, while achieving significant price reductions and increased visibility into our spending habits enterprise-wide, said Bernd Vogt, controller for Harman/Becker Automotive Systems. Datastream 7i Buy has enabled us to implement a paperless environment that has dramatically increased the efficiency of our procurement and accounts payable processes.
Datastream 7i Buy/Supply includes a number of enhancements designed to streamline the procurement process from both the buyer and supplier sides, including:
- Integrated Web Reports - Datastream 7i Buy users can specify parameters for the automatic generation of pre-defined reports to gain easy access to information about enterprise-wide procurement activity.
- Enhanced Usability - Datastream 7i Buy features a new user interface that is consistent with the existing Datastream 7i interface. The familiar look and feel significantly improves usability and reduces training time for end-users. Also, express checkout and an enhanced shopping cart make it easier than ever for customers to complete purchases.
- Complete Supplier Integration - Enhanced XML integration capabilities and associated services enable Datastream to preserve existing supplier-customer relationships by making it fast and easy for even small suppliers with limited IT infrastructure to join the Datastream 7i Buy/Supply network.
- Supplier Process Improvement Tools - Datastream 7i Supply provides a Web-based interface for suppliers to access accurate and detailed information on customer orders, so they can respond quickly and preemptively to any service issues that may arise. Shipment tracking and notification, and automated email alerts, further enhance supplier service capabilities through Datastream 7i Supply.
The new version of Datastream 7i Buy/Supply continues Datastreams track record of delivering high-value technology that generates concrete results for customers, said Larry Blackwell, president and CEO of Datastream Systems, Inc. Datastream 7i Buy/Supply provides an effective way for our customers to automate the procurement process from within their existing Datastream 7i application, while simultaneously enabling suppliers to streamline their fulfillment processes. This generates improved efficiency and cost savings across the entire industrial procurement chain.
