Datastream Announces New Datastream 7i Calibration Module; Provides Critical Support for Customers in Regulated Industries to Ensure Accuracy of Measurement Devices
Datastream 7i Calibration Module Enables Compliance for Customers in Pharmaceutical, Food, Oil and Gas, Transportation, Power Generation and Other Regulated Industries
Greenville, S.C. Feb. 2, 2004 Datastream Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTM) today announced that it has released a new Calibration module for its Datastream 7i asset performance management solution.
This advanced module provides calibration capabilities that enable companies to assure that the readings from their instruments, gauges and other devices are as accurate as possible. Proper calibration is especially critical in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, food, oil and gas, transportation and nuclear power where inaccurate measurements can cost lives, waste precious resources and expose companies to devastating regulatory penalties.
In a heavily regulated industry such as pharmaceutical, we simply cannot tolerate any inaccuracy in our measurements, said Nick Crist, building operations manager, central facilities operations, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals R&D. We are already using Datastream 7i to optimize the performance of all of our production, scientific-instrument and facility-related assets across multiple plants in US R&D. We also are using the solution to automate our compliance with the FDAs 21 CFR Part 11 regulation through electronic signatures and records. Having a fully integrated calibration module is the ideal solution to our incredibly demanding calibration requirements.
The Datastream 7i Calibration module provides the platform companies need to implement high quality calibration programs and processes for regulatory compliance. And because it is fully integrated with Datastream 7i, companies can deploy the Calibration module across multiple sites from a single instance of server software. This enables them to standardize calibration processes across all locationsbecause all workers are using the same application and thus reduces human errors and exposure to regulatory risks or non-compliance.
The Calibration module enables customers to enter key calibration information for each devicesuch as test points, input and output unit of measures, standard operating procedure number, device range, as well as operational and alert tolerancesand then Datastream 7i automatically generates calibration work orders when they are due. When a work order is issued, workers can enter data from each device into the relevant fields in the work order, and the Calibration module automatically calculates if there are any out of range deviations. If there are, the issue can be corrected and as left conditions logged for the device.
Datastream 7i provides robust reporting capabilities that enable companies to view and fully analyze their calibration histories for process improvement opportunities. Customers using the Datastream 7i Mobile advanced module can gain further efficiency gains by having workers enter their calibration information directly into handheld devices.
Datastream 7i has been successfully deployed in virtually every major regulated industry and has been particularly successful in helping pharmaceutical companies comply with the FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulation, said Datastream President and CEO Larry Blackwell. The new Datastream 7i Calibration module extends this heritage of helping customers meet regulatory requirements, while delivering fast ROI through increased equipment reliability, better buy/repair decisions and documented verification of measurement equipment for internal and external regulatory requirements.
