Bradco Supply Deploys Datastream 7i Across Multiple Locations to Create Innovative EAM Network

National Roofing and Building Materials Distributor Uses Leading Enterprise Asset Management Solution to Automate Third-Party Fleet Maintenance

GREENVILLE, S.C. - February 11, 2003 — Datastream Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ: DSTM), today announced that Bradco Supply Corporation, a national distributor of roofing and building materials, is initially deploying the Datastream 7i Web-architected enterprise asset management (EAM) solution across three of its nationwide locations and several third-party partner sites. Additionally, the company says it expects to deploy Datastream 7i across all of its 101 locations over the next 12 to 18 months.

Bradco Supply will use Datastream 7i and the built-in functionality codes of Vehicle Maintenance Reporting System (VMRS ) across the enterprise to manage its fleet of 1,400 trucks, tractors, trailers and forklifts. The company outsources nearly all of its fleet maintenance and repair operations to third-party vendors. Bradco Supply will automate the process of issuing and tracking work orders and invoices by including these vendors in an innovative Datastream 7i-based EAM network. This means that work orders will be issued faster and repairs can be made more quickly, keeping more trucks on the road.

Bradco Supply says its EAM network will reduce operating costs and improve the overall reliability of its fleet as managers use Datastream 7i to view, manage, schedule and enforce proper preventive maintenance routines. It will also reduce the opportunity for human error in maintenance and repair operations. "We are able to automate the entire work-order process by using Datastream 7i," said Kevin Tremmel, fleet manager of Bradco Supply. "This will eliminate an enormous amount of paperwork for us, because all of the work orders will be sent electronically over the Internet. More importantly, we will be able to automatically and accurately track the maintenance and performance of Bradco's vehicles. This enables us to efficiently determine exactly when vehicles need repair, eliminating unnecessary maintenance and the costs associated with it."

Bradco Supply is deploying Datastream 7i as a hosted solution, meaning that Bradco can significantly reduce personnel costs associated with installing, administering and maintaining the application. The Datastream 7i Web architecture makes it relatively easy for Bradco Supply to create an EAM network, because only a Web browser and an Internet connection is needed to access the application.

"Bradco Supply's innovative deployment shows how the Web architecture of Datastream 7i can improve business processes by encompassing multiple locations under a single application," said Larry Blackwell, president and CEO of Datastream Systems. "The ability to automate internal processes across the EAM network can deliver significant bottom line benefits to companies adopting a 'virtual enterprise.'"
