Datastream Announces That FMC Airport Systems Deploys Datastream 7iTM Across 15 Airports
Airports Maximize Return on Capital Assets by Using Datastream's Market-Leading Web-Architected Enterprise Asset Management Solution
GREENVILLE, S.C. - July 24, 2002 Datastream Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTM), today announced that the FMC Airport Services business unit of FMC Airport Systems has successfully deployed the Datastream 7i enterprise asset management (EAM) solution across 15 airports worldwide.
Datastream 7i is the industry's most widely deployed Web-architected EAM solution. FMC Airport Systems provides Datastream 7i to its customers as part of its Airport Services offering. The Datastream 7i Web architecture allows FMC Airport Services to deploy Datastream 7i on a single server, and airport personnel can access and use the application with standard Web browsers and mobile devices. Operations personnel use Datastream 7i to manage, track and maintain the many capital assets that go into operating gate and terminal services, including bridges, PC Air, baggage systems and facilities maintenance operations.
"This equipment is critical to efficient aircraft and passenger service," said Colin MacDonald, vice president of sales and marketing for FMC Airport Services. "Datastream 7i gives facility managers the information they need to ensure that all of their equipment is maintained properly. As a result, Datastream 7i helps our customers greatly increase the overall efficiency of their airport operations."
Datastream 7i offers unprecedented flexibility, supporting a full range of mobile devices in addition to standard desktop PCs. This provides facilities maintenance technicians and their managers with immediate access to critical EAM functionality for every job they do, whether it's at a desk, in the terminal or on the ramp.
"The Datastream 7i Web architecture permits multiple airports to be supported by a single instance of the server software," said Larry Blackwell, chief executive officer of Datastream Systems, Inc. "This radically reduces the total cost of ownership when compared to multi-server client/server deployments, and also provides the universal accessibility that is required by mobile work forces, such as ramp services personnel."
