Datastream Concludes First Year of Datastream 7iTM with 212 Customer Wins and Live Implementations Across 122 Sites

Datastream's Web-Architected Enterprise Asset Management Solution Enjoys Broad Adoption from Leading Corporations Worldwide

GREENVILLE, S.C. - October 31, 2002 — Datastream Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSTM) today announced that its Datastream 7i Web-architected enterprise asset management (EAM) solution has amassed 212 customer wins in the 12 months since its initial introduction. Additionally, there are currently 122 live customer sites using Datastream 7i.

"Deployments are the most important metric for success when introducing a new software product, particularly when it is in a new product category like Web-architected EAM," said Larry Blackwell, CEO of Datastream Systems, Inc. "The competitive landscape for large-scale EAM deployments has shifted from single-site client/server installations, to enterprise-wide Web implementations. Datastream 7i has proven itself to be an excellent fit for these large enterprise engagements, which is why we have announced more customer wins than any other company offering a product in this category."

Some of the marquee Datastream 7i customer wins announced worldwide since the product was launched Oct. 15, 2001, include Coast Mountain Bus Company, DaTang Power, FMC Airport Services, GlaxoSmithKline, Holly Corporation, Nucor, Pfizer Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., Pfizer Ireland, Pfizer Puerto Rico, Pepsi Gemex SRL de CV, Pepsico do Brasil SA, Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation and Sodiaal Yoplait. In that time, Datastream also announced an agreement with GE Fanuc Automation North America, Inc., an affiliate of GE Industrial Systems, in which GE Fanuc will offer globally Datastream 7i and iProcure , Datastream's industrial procurement network, as its exclusive asset management component for GE Fanuc's collaborative manufacturing solutions.

"It doesn't surprise me that Datastream has had this kind of success with Datastream 7i," said Tommy Guercio, vice president, information technology for Holly Corporation, a large petroleum company based in Dallas. "When we evaluated EAM solutions for Holly Corporation, Datastream 7i was the best choice due to its combination of proven technology, extensive functionality and track record of success at other customer sites."

"The past 12 months have shown that Datastream 7i offers a powerful combination of proven technology and broad functionality. This means that it is readily deployable and robust enough to meet the most demanding customer requirements," Blackwell said. "We have seen particularly good traction in several vertical segments, including seven wins in the government sector, 14 in food and beverage, 16 in pharmaceutical, 19 in utilities, 22 in transportation, 25 in oil and gas and 33 in facilities management. We look forward to building on our leadership in these segments in the year ahead as we introduce new technical advances particularly in the area of Web services that expand the capabilities of Datastream 7i and the value it delivers to customers."
