Infor EAM Demos with Public Sector Focus:

From equipment downtime to improper spare parts inventories and inefficient procurement processes, billions of dollars are lost every year in the public sector due to the mismanagement of capital assets. With Datastream 7i, organizations greatly improve efficiencies, reduce administrative costs, and optimize assets. The end result is satisfied constituents, employees, and officials.
Today's public sector organizations face complex challenges on many fronts.

  • Citizens expect high-quality services
  • Government agencies that regulate and fund public sector organizations require increased reporting and accountability
  • Public agencies must continue to operate more efficiently, cut costs, and spend taxpayer dollars wisely.

The benefits that public sector organizations gain from Datastream 7i include:

  • The ability to respond to growing regulatory pressure—Organizations keep all facilities and assets current and accurately maintained, avoid hefty fines, and maintain their bond rating and support for public programs.
  • An integrated technology solution for uniting all departments—Organizations integrate existing information from financial, customer relationship management (CRM), and geographic information applications into one seamless system. This information can even be accessed across multiple locations via a Web browser or a handheld device.
  • Reduced IT costs associated with managing and maintaining assets—Because it is designed exclusively for the Web, Datastream 7i is a cost-effective enterprise solution that can be deployed at a single location or utilized across all facilities.

Nearly 1,200 cities, municipalities, and government agencies in the US and internationally meet their challenges head on with Datastream solutions.

Web Services Integration

Datastream 7i is designed specifically to fit the needs of the public sector. In this industry, assets are diverse and can include buildings, equipment, land and easements, works of art and historical treasures, machinery, and vehicles. They also include more "long-lived" stationary assets like water and sewer systems, roads, bridges, dams, lighting systems, and tunnels.

2-way, GIS Integration
Datastream 7i integrates seamlessly with ESRI ArcGIS, Geographical Information System, creating a powerful asset management solution that lets users to easily locate the position of geographically-dispersed assets, such as linear assets, on a map. Field technicians spend a large portion of their time traveling back and forth across the city performing maintenance at multiple locations. The capabilities of the GIS integration module help optimize the workday by planning a more efficient route to designated locations, thereby reducing drive time and increasing the efficiency of the city’s labor work force.

Audit Trails
Datastream 7i provides a flexible way to track changes to comments and attributes. Track inserts, updates, or deletions of every attribute for almost every Datastream 7i table, any individual field, and all comments per entity.

GASB34 Reporting
Datastream 7i tracks depreciation schedules and asset condition histories to comply with GASB 34/35 standards, generates National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) reports for EPA compliance, and manages inspections to comply with CMOM.

Linear Assets
The linear assets module in Datastream 7i enables users to define an asset in terms of linear reference details like length, unit of measure, and geographic reference. Users can write work orders against any portion or point on that asset by specifying to and from points.  For example, when work is performed at a specific point on a linear asset—like replacing a portion of a pipeline—the cost and work involved in that repair is attributed to the specific portion of the asset rather than the entire asset. This allows more accurate analysis and maintenance of the linear asset. Datastream 7i also enables dynamic segmentation from within the linear asset feature, meaning that while users are working with a specific segment of an asset they can easily change the segment where work should be performed. For example, a work order can be issued between mile markers 5 and 7, but when the road crew gets to the site only the area between mile markers 5 and 6 require work. The work order is adjusted and the costs and work are assigned to the correct segment.

Linear asset functionality does not require Datastream 7i GIS Integration, although it does include several important GIS interface features and leverages the features of the Datastream 7i GIS advanced module for asset management. The most significant addition to GIS operations is a user's ability to specify a portion of a linear asset and execute a search in the Datastream 7i GIS advanced module based on the portion and not the entire asset. This greatly simplifies operations by narrowing the scope of such GIS searches.

Mobile Devices
Datastream 7i Mobile offers remote access to critical data on virtually every aspect of asset maintenance, including Work Order, Inspections, and Inventory Management by using docking cradles or handheld wireless devices such as Pocket PC, Java-enabled mobile phones, or barcode scanners. This advanced module offers a standardized format to capture and transmit data back to the Datastream 7i database for validation and processing through Datastream’s Application Program Interfaces (APIs).

Multi-organizational Setup
The multi-organization capabilities of Datastream 7i enable organizations to perform separate functions, such as facilities, fleet, and plant management, through a single solution.

Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards (VMRS)
Created and maintained by the American Trucking Association, VMRS codes provide a uniform system for labeling parts in the transportation industry. The Datastream 7i VMRS module provides public sector customers with these codes pre-populated in Datastream 7i, simplifying management of critical maintenance, operation, and cost information for fleet maintenance management.

Web Services Integration
Datastream 7i is fully Web-architected and integrates easily with other enterprise applications through Web services. That means that Datastream 7i can dynamically exchange information from corporate applications such as accounting, ERP, or human resource applications.
